Objective:
Stewardship
Developing with Intention
There is a lot of land in the world, much is undeveloped, and much has been developed without careful thought and without regard to what the land means to the community. Some communities thrive in their agricultural identity, some in an identity of being a serene river town. Regardless of what the areas “sense of place” is, as new developers, we should keep in mind what those elements are.
LDEV 661 - Site Analysis
The Site Analysis course teaches students to be careful and thorough in due diligence investigations. The course also reinforces the ideas of context sensitive and low-impact development strategies. Ensuring the landscaping materials implemented in a new development are aligned with that community’s guidelines and requirements, planning for the least amount of impervious surface required, keeping with the theme of the surrounding area and planning a new project with that identity in mind and at the forefront are all ways students learn stewardship in the LDEV 661.
